Group Tidbits
First Things First
- Masha is the first member of the group, the first one to present and to graduate in Spring 2012.
- Orkhan is the first Honors student of the group.
- Nadina is the first Biology member and the first to win a best poster paper award.
- Bobby is the first double major member of the group.
- Fredo is the first member from the Pleasantville campus.
- Hillary is the first MS student of the group.
- Kevin is the first member to be a plenary speaker in the Dyson College Society of Fellows Annual Meeting and the first group member to be awarded a best paper award.
-Misha became the first group member to be awarded a best paper award without delivering a plenary speaker.
The Only One
- Orkhan is the only member that is a non-science major. He is a Psychology major.
- David is the only member to be a part of two best poster awards with different studies.
- Nadina is the only member to win consecutive best poster awards in the same study.
- Eric is the only member to present two posters in one event (ACS National Meeting at Dallas).
- Sam is the only member to win a Best Paper and Best Poster in the same event.
- Max is the only member that is an REU grant recipient.
- Bobby is the only member to work on his BS and MS degrees with the group.
Membership and Conferences
- The group initially had four members in mid-Spring 2012 which grew to 6 by the end of semester.
- The group grew to its largest size in Spring 2015 when there are 12 members (8 undergraduates and 4 MS students). This number was also maintained in Spring 2016 (all undergraduates)
- Most of the members are also members of the Dyson College Society of Fellows.
- The group presented 8 posters at ACS National Meeting in Dallas in Spring 2014 which is the most for national level.
- The group first participated in ACS National Meeting in Fall 2012 Meeting in Philadelphia. Since 2014, the group participated at least once a year in the ACS National Meetings (Dallas Spring 2014, Denver Spring 2015, Boston Fall 2015 and San Diego Spring 2016).
- The group have 11 presentations at the Eastern Colleges Science Conferences (ECSC) held in MARIST College in Spring 2014, the most for regional meeting.
